Matthew Bourne and Franck Vigroux will be resident at the ZIL Cultural Centre in Moscow to develop their new work for piano and electronics, concluded by a World premiere performance of the work on February 7. The project is a theatrical realisation of Yevgeny Zamyatin’s novel, We, for piano, electronics and lighting design. Working with the original text as inspiration, minimal piano textures, sensitive electronics and lighting design, Bourne & Vigroux hope to make an impactful statement that is a stark, original rendering of Zamyatin's work. Their activities in Moscow will also be documented by a local filmmaker. In addition to developing this new work, Bourne & Vigroux hope to collaborate and record with local musicians during their stay in Moscow, and afterwards, will travel to St. Petersburg to perform We (as part of a triple-bill concert with other Russian artists) at the Museum of Music on February 8.
