Inversia is an international audiovisual festival above the Polar Circle organised by Fridaymilk, an independent group of curators and producers in the High North. Inversia festival unites diverse communities of artists and curators from Northwest Russia and Northern Europe in Murmansk to research the phenomena of geographical isolation and cultural exclusion and dispel the idea of darkness and remoteness as negative notions. The theme of the upcoming festival edition is Digital Traces – research of new possibilities to interactions that are united by the digital environment and worldwide spread communities.

On 6 February UK-based artist Marija Bozinovska Jones will present "On Selfhood" project together with J.G. Biberkopf on the opening of the Inversia festival. Unpacking cryptic ways of forging subjectivity, Marija contemplates a multitude of subject interests: intelligence (dis)embodiments, gamification and self-regulation in biological and other complex systems that mimic these. The festival opening culminates with the Russian premiere of atmospheric audiovisual performance Kistvaen. Pivotal to the performance piece are Kists, Neolithic sites located on Dartmoor, and the songs of a burial ritual sung live by Mary-Anne Roberts of Bragod. The music, composed by Roly Porter, blurs the boundaries between field recording, folk instrumentation and digital sound processing, while Marcel Weber’s scenography blends subliminal stage and lighting effects with cinematic imagery.

On 8 February Robocobra Quartet from Belfast will present cross genre lines programme, drawing influence from post-punk and jazz improvisation. Project-managed from the drum throne of vocalist, drummer and producer Chris Ryan, disparate nods to modern classical music, hardcore and free jazz battle together and often stack upon one another.
