The Chords & Words seminar in Ekaterinburg was held as a part of the Old New Rock festival on January 13.
This is one of the UK-Russia Year of Music projects. Chords & Words is a series of ten festivals dedicated to the symbiosis of music and literature. Events have already taken place in Rostov-on-Don, Perm, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Petrozavodsk, Kazan and Saint-Petersburg. The project is run by ANO Literary and Historical Club with the support of the British Embassy in Moscow. The project’s curators are Mikhail Faustov and book critic Konstantin Milchin.
Old New Rock 2020 is a festival with more than 20 years of history. For 20 years the festival has been bringing together legendary rockers and young musicians. It has become a platform for the development of many talented musicians and has given them exposure to a wide audience. Nautilus Pompilius, Splin, Smyslovye Gallyutsinatsii, Agatha Christie, Zapreshenye Barabanshiki, Bravo!, Aria, Lumen, Chizh & Co, Tequilajazz, Nastya band, Fools Garden, Воплi Вiдоплясова, 5’Nizza, Brainstorm and many other musicians of Russia, USA, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands have performed on the festival’s stage. A wide range of bands will be festival headliners this year: Alexander F Sklyar, Va-Bank band (Moscow), TOP band (Ekaterinburg), Junkyard Storytellaz (Saint Petersburg), OQJAV (Moscow) and Coperniquo (Salzburg, Austria). The festival will be closed by the performance of Chaif band.
