The VIII Saint Petersburg International Cultural Forum will take place from 14 to 16 November 2019 and this year we are bringing there a delegation of British experts of cultural sector.

Roger Wright is Chief Executive of Snape Maltings, which runs a year-round arts programme including the Aldeburgh Festival of Music and the Arts. His talk at the Saint Petersburg International Cultural Forum is entitled “Making history and cultural heritage relevant to the present and the future”. With over 40 years' experience working internationally in classical music, Roger Wright will discuss the importance of making organisations (orchestras, festivals and venues) celebrate their heritage but also have relevance today and in the future. He will also talk about the importance of understanding audiences and leading their taste – not simply following it.

As part of an ongoing relationship between the Association of British Orchestras and the Russian Union of Concert Organizations, this year's Saint Petersburg International Culture Forum will be attended by representatives of four British orchestras and ABO Chair Mark Pemberton. Mark will be joined by Jenny Jamison (Scottish Ensemble), Stephen Maddock (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra) and Simon Webb (BBC Philharmonic) for a panel discussion on various areas of orchestra management including audience development, music education, creative programming and working with state bodies.
