The Association of British Orchestras (ABO) has been working in partnership with the British Council to help celebrate UK-Russia Year of Music, and this year’s conference saw a significant delegation of senior managers and decision-makers from Russian orchestras and concerts halls. Chaired by Cathy Graham, Director Music at the British Council, we’ll look at how the Russian classical music and orchestral sector works, including examining the model of Philharmonias which run concert halls and orchestras and are also receiving houses. We will also hear about one of the most high-profile new concert halls recently opened in Moscow, the Zaryadye, a stone's throw from Red Square.

Participants: Anna Andrushkevich, Producer, Zaryadye Concert Hall, Gillian Moore CBE, Director of Music, Southbank Centre, Caroline Newton, Head of Orchestral Operations, Sage Gateshead, Evgeny Petrovsky, Deputy Director (Planning), St Petersburg Philharmonia, Gavin Reid, Chief Executive Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Evgeny Stodushny, Director, Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic.
